All who come to me I keep. All who leave I set free.
But ever do I stand against those who carry not my key.
Lady Circe PDF Print E-mail

Lady Circe was the founder of the Sisterhood and Brotherhood of The Old Religion which came about in 1970. She opened a boutique in Toledo and it went through many incarnations through her life. She claimed to have known she was a witch from the age of twelve.  Many people speak of her stories and rhymes with claims that they weaved pagan and Wiccan beliefs into the everyday, including sayings like “Let the spider run alive, your business, then, is sure to thrive.” They also spoke of her magnetic personality and an allure which didn’t give away all the answers, but always kept you thirsty for the knowledge of the divine.

Lady Circe was at the third degree initiation of Ravenwood’s Witch Queen and Elder High Priestess, Lady Sintana. Like Lady Sintana, one of her goals was to set a path for the Old Religion in a public forum and to make it recognized instead of hidden. Lady Circe’s calling was not just to support a group, but to run one. In many ways our tradition follows in her footsteps. The wisdom she imparted lives on in us even today. “How you carry yourself is most important. Protocol, etiquette and physical presence are what the outside world sees and they would know witches by what they see in us.”

Lady Circe passed to the Summerlands in 2004 and her legacy lives within all of us who carry the torch of our religion.

I agree with his Lordship, it is long over due for Lady Circe to be honored and recognized. Many down played her roll in the evolution of Ravenwood as well as her role in assisting Lady Sintana in establishing the Morland House. Thank you!
Bright Blessings

Thank you Lady Larina and Lord Gaelin along with the other Elders for finally giving Lady Circe the recognition she so richly deserved and was denied for many years.

Bright Blessings,
Lord Starhawk
